Soundtrack of the year 2010

2010 has had some awesome gaming soundtracks, and with pretty much all big, new releases out of the way I'll start my Soundtrack of the Year award! And without further ado, my soundtrack of the year is!

*DRUMROLL*

Nier’s Soundtrack is simply classic, with an orchestrated, moving soundtrack that sets the tone for the entire game. The vocal tracks in this game are amazing, while not containing any coherent lyrics per se, it does extremely well to convey the desperation and emotional aspect of the game. To be completely honest what Nier does best is music, and this sadly overlooked RPG finally gets it’s swan song. (no pun intended)
RUNNERS UP
(in no particular order)

The music in any Castlevania title has been extraordinary. And where Lords of Shadow didn't do well, Harmony of Despair did, and did it damn good. Harmony of Despair took all the Castlevania fan favourites and made a Guitar Arrangement of them, making fans squeal and wet their pants worldwide.
VVVVVV is an underrated indie platformer where you shift gravity, graphics are done in C64 style and so is the music. The catchy melodies of VVVVVV will blow your mind in all of it's chiptuney awesomeness.
Red Dead Redemption's soundtrack is a dime a dozen, instead of focusing on melodical tracks, it focuses in on the immersive experience of the game. Riding to Mexico with this track on is one of the most atmospheric moments i've ever experienced in gaming.
SMB's soundtrack is ridiculously amazing for an indie game, when it was flung into popularity a month ago, I heard about it's soundtrack. For a twitchy game like SMB, you need some sort of catchy tune to tap your feet to as you time your jumps, and DBsoundworks did an awesome job of it.

I hum/whistle this every. single. day. And for that reason it's on this list. Hell yeah! But seriously, Deadly Premonition gives us some pretty catchy and cliche Horror / Detective themes that have died out in this generation of gaming.

That's all folks!
Happy Gaming, SAYEM OUT!
